Adopt-A-Day-Program
Bell Family Shelter strives to increase awareness about homelessness in York County and relies on community partners to help us raise necessary funds to provide vital services to families in need. Civic organizations, business, churches, foundations and individuals may "adopt" a day (or more) at our shelter by donating all or part of one day's operating costs.
These contributions are showcased in our Adopt-a-Day placements in the York Daily Record and York Dispatch, and are recognized in our monthly email/web site updates and in Bell's annual report. Many groups and individuals choose to "adopt" a specific day (or days) that is special to them, recognizing important events and people in their lives.
Your Adopt-A-Day donation of $600 helps cover expenses for one family for one shelter day, including housing and utilities, meals, basic personal care and laundry, and supportive counseling in budgeting, employment, and parenting skills.
$300 provides bed linens, pillows, blankets and towels for ten individuals waiting to secure permanent housing.
$100 provides a week's worth of services for a child, ensuring that he or she does not sleep in a car, on the street or in an abandoned building.
$50 provides the food items necessary to round out nutritional needs of the shelter population for a day, supplementing the Shelter's USDA food distribution & canned donations.
$25 provides a month's worth of diapers, formula and daily infant care items for a shelter infant or toddler.
