Committed to Service and Support
Rebecca Gominger is a registered nurse who has been an employee of Bell Socialization Services since 2008 as a valuable part of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. In her role as the team’s nurse, one of her primary responsibilities is making sure ACT service users understand and have access to the medications they need. She works closely with other ACT team members to assure each client receives the information they need to effectively manage their physical and mental health care needs.

Rebecca Gominger, registered nurse and gunner's mate, presents a Patriotic Employer certificate to her supervisor, Angela Wildasin, program cooridinator of Bell's Assertive Community Treatment team.
On August 5, however, Rebecca will be on her way to a different job; she’ll be reporting to duty with her Maritime Expeditionary Security unit with the United States Navy. Along with about 40 other naval reservists, she will be heading to an as-yet unknown location, and was told to be certain she had her passport in order for possible travel to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq. Her orders indicate she’ll be engaged until June 2012.
Rebecca’s supervisor at Bell, Angela Wildasin, expected this day may come. She has, on more than one occasion, adjusted schedules to accommodate her employee’s Reserves trainings, which occur one weekend per month plus two weeks every year. Both women expressed sincere gratitude for the willingness and flexibility of the entire ACT team to step up when these situations arise. Of course, this close-knit group of Bell employees is known for its dedication when circumstances require going above and beyond “normal” duties and schedules, especially when it comes to providing adequate client supports.
Although her unit has been called to action before, this is Rebecca’s first deployment. When they got their orders to report in November a couple years ago, she was pregnant with her daughter Tabitha and excused from duty. Tabitha, now one and a half years old, and her sister Devon, 14, will stay home with Rebecca’s husband, Mike Wetzel, who is a psychiatric technician with WellSpan. Rebecca says she knows her “ACT family” will also be there to support her daughters while she’s away. In regard to her work duties, the team will welcome a new member within the next couple weeks, hired on a contractual basis to fulfill the registered nurse role.
The Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognized Angela, Bell, and the Assertive Community Treatment program as a Patriotic Employer for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.
We wish all the best to Rebecca as she serves our country and look forward to welcoming her safely home.
