Communications Internship

Current college juniors and seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students in communications, marketing, public relations, writing, journalism and/or related fields are encouraged to apply for the position of Communications Intern with Bell Socialization Services, a non-profit human services agency based in York, PA.

Working closely with the Community Relations & Development director, the Communications Intern will create content and lay out for agency newsletter, write articles for agency web site, and research, write and post content for social media outlets.

Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills including an ability to conduct interviews resulting in well-crafted articles for publication. Must possess proficiency with Microsoft Office (including desktop publishing) and working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.   Intern must be capable of interacting with community members, agency staff and service users in a pleasant and professional manner. An ability to plan work, stay on task and meet deadlines is crucial. Sensitivity to challenges faced by individuals with mental, intellectual, and economic disability is essential.

Opportunities are available for one to two students per semester, including summer. Internship is unpaid but will provide successful intern with materials for portfolio as well as valuable real world experience in non-profit sector. A minimum of 8 hours per week and ability to travel to satellite locations within York County is expected.

Online Communications Internship for ReSource York

Current college juniors and seniors, recent graduates, and graduate students in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism and/or related fields are encouraged to apply for the position of Online Communications Intern with ReSource York, a social enterprise affiliate of non-profit human services agency Bell Socialization Services, based in York, PA.  ReSource York (RSY) is a retail operation with two locations, selling quality donated home improvement items to the public, keeping usable materials out of landfills.

Working closely with Bell’s Community Relations & Development director and the ReSource York management team,  the RSY Online Communications Intern will create and post dynamic, relevant, engaging content for both the RSY Facebook page and RSY web site, including updating weekly specials, photographing and promoting inventory, featuring customer projects, announcing volunteer opportunities, researching related topics, and more. Capacity to film, edit and upload video components a plus.

Applicants must have top-notch written communication skills and possess proficient working knowledge of Facebook, WordPress, Flickr and YouTube.   Intern must be capable of interacting pleasantly and professionally with store staff, volunteers, and customers. An ability to plan work, stay on task and meet timelines in a self-motivated manner is crucial.

Human Resources Internship

Bell is seeking a part-time intern for the Human Resources Department.  This is a part-time (flexible hours), unpaid, internship with year round opportunities.

Requirements:

-       College Student with major in business and/or Human Resources

-       Knowledge of basic Human Resources functions

-       Committed to the values of integrity, caring relationships and responsibility.

-       Proficient in computer technology including all Microsoft Office programs

-        Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

-       Ability to carry out assigned projects to completion; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain solid relationships with applicants, staff members, and all volunteers; maintain confidential and sensitive information; and to follow instructions.

Responsibilities:

-       Rotate through the Human Resource department of Bell Socialization Services – recruiting, hiring, training, benefits, and compensation (Payroll), Wellness, and other parts of agency as overview.

-       Become knowledgeable of each of these functions and understand the impact they have on the agency

-       Complete projects and other duties as agreed to with the Director or Coordinator of Human Resources

-       File appropriate information in personnel and insurance folders.

-       Assist with and coordinate recruitment efforts.

-       Process employment verifications

-       Participate in Human Resources records audit

-       Update job descriptions in electronic database for current and new employees

-       Other duties as assigned by the Director or Coordinator of Human Resources

Community Relations Internship
