Job Training in Action
When Travis Ilgenfritz puts on a necktie, he means business.
Travis, along with Jennifer Cruz-Beato and John Thomas III, donned fresh, clean business attire recently for a chance to hone the skills they’ve been learning as participants in Bell’s Vocational Rehabilitation program.
Looking for potential employment opportunities, they attended the 16th annual York County Cooperative Job Fair Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m., at the York Learning Center on East Seventh Avenue in York.
All three enjoyed the experience of being able to speak with actual company representatives to find out what qualities employers look for in employees. Each participant was able to find at least one place where they wanted to apply and with the assistance of vocational caseworkers Melissa Fair and Mallory Ford, Travis, Jennifer and John each turned in applications at the event.
“Overall, it was a good experience for them to get out and practice their social skills and see what job opportunities are available in our local area,” said Fair. “It was also a good opportunity for them to explore the idea of schooling,” she said.
