Volunteering
There are a variety of opportunities available for sharing your time and talent to further Bell's mission. We can always use a helping hand and YOU may have just the expertise and enthusiasm we're seeking.
Some options include (but are certainly not limited to): assist with mailings, filing, weeding & planting, web assistance, organize/inventory donations, teach a craft, tutor children after school, give haircuts, paint a room, organize a fundraiser or collection of goods.

Artistic People Needed to Create Attractive Displays Description: In cooperation with the Community Relations office, brainstorm ideas for, then develop and install eye-catching window displays to promote Bell and it's programs and events.
Perfect community service project for individual or small group interested in sharing their artistic abilities.
Great resume building opportunity for students to work creatively with local non-profit organization.
Requirements: Creativity and resourcefulness are key as there is currently little to no budget for this endeavor. We're seeking a simple yet dynamic, professional look.
Individual/Group should have access to necessary resources to produce items for displays and/or ability and willingness to solicit donations for same. Project requires volunteers to set up and tear down displays on (roughly) a monthly basis.
Must be able to work cooperatively with Community Relations office staff and work independently in the creation and installation phase of the project.

Green Thumbs Needed -- Join our Gardening Angels Description: Bell is seeking groups and individuals to help us manage the outdoor areas of our group homes and family shelter. Primary tasks would be weeding, planting and managing growth of plants in the flower beds. Request Gardening Angels brochure and/or an application for the 2010 growing season.
Arrangements must be made in advance with the program coordinator and house supervisor but this opportunity provides great flexibility; design a schedule to suit your needs.
Requirements: -ability to handle varying levels of yard work (initially more strenuous, reduced to moderate and light as beds are managed appropriately) -transportation to/from the property -desire to share your time and abilities in support of our mission to provide an environment of support and empowerment where people can improve their quality of living.
Marketing Internship/Volunteer
Description: We have a great opportunity for students majoring in marketing or public relations to expand their skill set and develop real world experience in a non-profit setting. Non-student individuals with experience or interest in marketing and/or public relations who wish to share their talents and skills are also most welcome.
Over the course of the internship, the successful candidate will: - Assist in identifying key contact groups for marketing the agency's Wedding Bell Registry (see: www.weddingbellregistry.com) - Collect names and contact information of individuals in target markets utilizing newspapers, magazines, internet research, etc. - Establish a database to store collected information, - Provide input into determining the best way to reach target markets, - Assist in the development of effective materials to reach these markets, - Facilitate dissemination of program information/materials, - Evaluate return on effort
Requirements: The ideal intern (or volunteer) will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable of drawing up and following a timeline to complete tasks as assigned. S/he will be capable of working independently on and off site and be available for regular meetings at Bell to evaluate progress.
Exceptional writing and communications skills are essential.
