Bell’s Sendero Program

Sendero (Pathway) –  one of Bell’s New Beginnings programs – started in April of 1992 as a semi-weekly therapy group session for York County residents with mental illnesses ranging from depression to schizophrenia. It continues to be the only therapy group for Spanish-speaking adults in the state of Pennsylvania

The program offers two fully bilingual caseworkers who facilitate mental health awareness, socialization, and skill building groups. Programs are offered in Spanish but service users are encouraged to learn and utilize English in groups.  The program also offers case management services to its participants. An array of special activities and events such as camping, day trips/outings, and holiday events by Bells mental health department, are part of the group’s regular schedule.

DSCF1001Originally housed at 300 E. Philadelphia St. with 11 initial participants the Sendero Program is now located in Bell’s main office building at 160 S. George Street and has grown to offer programming to upwards of 20 service users at any given time.

Sendero Motto:

Never Forget, Not for One Day, How Special You Really Are.
