A Path to Hope: Annelise Vuono’s Mural at Bell Family Shelter
When you enter the lobby at Bell Family Shelter, the first thing you see is Annelise Vuono’s gorgeous mural. The vibrant colors and serene scene brighten the space, inspiring hope and possibility.
Annelise shared, “What Bell does is very near to my heart. I was delighted about creating a mural to transform the new shelter’s lobby into a safe and welcoming space. Staff explained to me that many of their residents arrive in a state of trauma. They wanted a calming forest scene to aid in easing the various life transitions the families face.”
She continued, “I knew this project was a perfect fit and in line with my mission statement: ‘To revitalize communities through accessible art, to evoke emotion for the enrichment of society.’ Art is so powerful; it is essential for the health of a society, and as an artist, I feel I have a duty to use my gift to help others.”
“While the mural should have a peaceful impact on everyone, the little intricacies in the flora and fauna are meant to entertain children while their parents make arrangements. The pathway running through the center of the piece symbolizes the ‘path’ Bell offers families,” Annelise happily added “I hope everyone who walks through those doors feels connected with the enchanted forest.”
