Bell Family Shelter Doubles Capacity with New, Empowering Space
We are thrilled to announce that Bell Family Shelter has moved to its new location at 724 S. George Street. This welcoming space can now accommodate up to 73 individuals, doubling our capacity and ensuring more families have a safe place to stay. The facility includes a handicap-accessible elevator, which recently allowed us to bring in a couple, including one member in a wheelchair, who had been living under a bridge.
The Discovery Lounge will inspire creativity and curiosity with engaging art projects and science experiments. The reading nook offers endless adventures, and the sensory room is designed for children on the spectrum, making every child feel comfortable and supported. Additionally, there is a dedicated space where parents can take time for self-care, which is essential as they work towards regaining independent living.
Marcella, the Director of Shelter Services, shared her excitement, “I’m just amazed! Everything has changed. The staff morale is great. The clients pitch in, participate, and thrive so much faster. The new environment has empowered clients to want to do more for themselves. It is exciting to see.”
What an incredible milestone! Our new facility is more than just a family shelter; it’s where families stay together, become empowered, and regain independent living. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Enjoy these photos from Bell Family Shelter’s moving day and stay tuned for more updates!
