Building a Legacy of Resilience: Celebrating Josiah & Jia’s Inspiring Journey to Stability and Success
Executive Director Tony Schweitzer congratulates Josiah at our Annual Celebration! Josiah accepted the Personal Achievement Award honoring both him and Jia for their incredible resilience and achievements.
We are thrilled to announce a heartwarming Personal Achievement Award for an inspiring family in our Possibilities Program: Josiah and Jia. Their journey has been one of incredible resilience, strength, and hope—a journey that has transformed not only their lives but the lives of their young children.
Reflecting on his past, Josiah shared, “I was homeless in my teenage years. I want to ensure my kids do not go through the same things.” This determination keeps him driven. “Sometimes I would think, this is hard, and I do not feel like going through it, but I have to. I want to excel, and my kids to excel too,” Josiah explained.
Jia echoed their resilience, sharing, “Being in a shelter with the kids was character-building. You do not expect to face that with newborn twins and a one-year-old. The Possibilities Program is doing a lot for us. Our goals are being met and accomplished. We are excelling and ready for the next step.”
Josiah and Jia express gratitude for their case manager, Lynnette Myers, saying, “She pushes us to do things. I do not think we would have accomplished everything without her support. She has a loving mother vibe.”
For them, the future is about creating stability and opportunity for their children. With pride, Jia commented, “They are little geniuses. I hope they never turn to the wrong way of life. I want to show them structure and stability are the keys to life.”
Josiah also hopes to inspire others, stating, “I want to show people how easy it can be, especially when you have people in your corner who want to see you succeed.”
This award is a powerful reminder of how far they have come. “It lets me know everything I am working toward is coming to pass, and we are not slacking. We are getting it done,” said Josiah. For Jia, it is proof they are building the future they dream of. With happiness, she expressed, “We are showing that we can, and we are capable.”
