Rewarding Work: meet Christina
Christina Hines is the Program Coordinator for Shelter Services, which includes Bell Family Shelter and three transitional housing programs for the homeless: Possibilities, Next Step, and Bridge Housing.When asked about her role, Christina shared, “I enjoy being able to assist individuals and families as they grow and blossom. It is a rewarding feeling when you get to watch people acknowledge their accomplishments and be proud of themselves.”
She continued, “I have been at Bell for years and really enjoy helping people improve their quality of life, but at the same time holding them accountable. I have seen families enter one of the programs and have the lowest self-esteem and at the end, they are smiling and excited about life.”
Christina, describing one of the bonuses of her job, said, “One of the best feelings is when a family that you helped in the past, contacts you to give you an update on their progress.” Seeing a family go from being homeless to proud and accomplished is an AMAZING transition to be a part of.
