DSP Recognition Week!
This week during Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week, September 12 – 18, 2021, we shine a spotlight on all the caring, hard-working people who work in Bell’s residential programs!
Their compassion and dedication is put into action Every. Day. to provide an environment of support and empowerment where people can improve their lives.
A special thanks from Theresa Franklin, Director of Bell’s Intellectual / Developmental Disability Services, “Over the past 18 months, the word “essential” has been utilized to describe many different job descriptions and positions. For a Direct Support Professional, it should not have taken a pandemic for the word “essential” to be used to describe their work.”
“Each DSP is and has always been essential for and to the individuals that require any type of assistance. Whether it is taking someone that lives independently to the grocery store or assisting someone with getting out of bed for the day, getting dressed, and completing their personal hygiene, DSPs have always been needed to help individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability live as independently as possible. Helping them to live the life that he or she wants.”
“Direct Support Professionals are the backbone of the IDD field. They have been, continue to be, and will always be ESSENTIAL to someone.”
Well done, everyone! You are truly appreciated!
