Bell Annual Celebration Recap

Yesterday, October 3, around 150 members of the extended Bell family – employees, service users, donors, volunteers, and more – gathered at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church, York, for Bell’s Annual Celebration and Award Ceremony. Many hugs, handshakes, and stories were shared as those in attendance sat down to a lunch of wraps, salads, and cupcakes (yippee!), to celebrate achievements, applaud dedication, and recognize community partners.

Following welcoming words from Director of Community Engagement Averie Clark, agency department directors shared updates from their respective programs, and Executive Director Tony Schweitzer offered inspiring reflections and commendation to lift up Bell employees. Bell Board of Directors president, Zak Wolpert, offered thanks to all internal and external stakeholders and provided an enthusiastic update on the progress of Bell’s search for a new Shelter.

Two employees were recognized as recipients of the Ivan G. Hileman award, Wendy Beaverson in Administration and Lori Leister in the Mental Health Services department. The Margo Atwood Community Service Award was awarded to Leadership York Team D, the Pauline Whitacre Community Service Award to Aimee Galdemez, and the Rita Patz Good Neighbor Award to the Urey family. Chick-Fil-A received the Business of the Year Award. Three service users from each of Bell’s departments received Personal Achievement Awards: MH service user Diana Aguilar, IDD residential service user Ann Pipher, and shelter service user Donna Seddens.
