Honoring David Welber: A Legacy of Leadership and Heart

Executive Director Tony Schweitzer with longtime Board member David Welber and current Board President Scott Thomassy.
Bell is proud to recognize and honor David Welber for his extraordinary legacy of service. After more than three decades of dedicated involvement on our Board of Directors, David is stepping away from his formal role, but his impact continues to resonate throughout our organization.
David’s journey with Bell spans over 30 years of committed leadership and support. From his service as Board President to his pivotal role in signing the check from the Jaycees that helped launch the original Bell Club, his contributions have shaped many of Bell’s foundational programs. A longtime advocate for Bell Family Shelter and a key participant in our Giving Shelter Capital Campaign, David has been an integral voice and presence in our efforts to expand and strengthen our services.
As Executive Director Tony Schweitzer shared, “David is truly ‘good people.’ He is always doing good.” That spirit is evident in everything David does, from connecting individuals with community resources to showing up when it matters most. He leads with heart, integrity, and a deep sense of responsibility to those we serve.
In a lighthearted tribute to David’s signature accessory, a copy of The Bow Tie Book will be donated to a local library in his honor—a small gesture to reflect a larger legacy.
David, we thank you for your compassion, leadership, and dedication. Your legacy lives on in the lives you’ve touched and the mission and vision you’ve supported. You will always be a cherished part of the Bell family.
