VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for Run to Benefit Bell
September 24, 2022 is the 45th running of the York White Rose Run!
And this year’s event – both LIVE (in-person) and VIRTUAL – benefits Bell.
Registration for race participants + VOLUNTEERS can be found at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/York/YorkWhiteRoseRun.
The Region’s Oldest Running Event!
The first York White Rose Run was held in 1977 and it has been run on the streets of York City for 44 years. This family-friendly race has drawn as many as 800+ runners and has been known to attract a field of elite runners from local and regional areas, including Olympic Games participants from eleven different countries.
The York Road Runners Club, established in 1976, manages, organizes, and directs the York White Rose Run. This race is put on by runners for runners and is geared to participants of **all abilities and experience levels.**

For 2022, the 45th Running
This year’s race includes both a LIVE and a VIRTUAL race. Runners around the world have embraced VIRTUAL racing, and we are continuing this option for our 2022 edition! (It was popular and successful last year.) You can register for the LIVE, or the VIRTUAL, or register for both of the events (**you must register separately for each event if you wish to do both**).
The LIVE race course is nearly the same as the 2021 course, with minor changes. It runs mostly in the City of York, with a short out and back on the beautiful section of the Heritage Rail Trail north of the city. In brief, the course will wind through the city for three miles (including Farquhar Park) and then cross George St onto the new section of the Heritage Rail Trail, run approximately 1 mile out to the turnaround, and finish at the usual spot on Beaver St north of Philadelphia St. The start and venue will remain at the White Rose Bar and Grill.
The VIRTUAL race is anywhere/anytime between September 1 and September 30, 2022. You can run anywhere/anytime during the time period, including course maps from previous years. Just run/walk five miles. Once you finish your virtual race, you can upload your results on this site.
And you can be a VOLUNTEER. With the race running through the city, we need many volunteers, and all volunteers will receive a race t-shirt exactly like the runners’ shirts, along with a good feeling that you are helping a good cause. Most positions allow for easy social distancing and all COVID-19 precautions.
RACE BENEFITS BELL
The York White Rose Run is proud to support Bell Socialization Services– a York-based nonprofit organization that brings positive change to the greater York/Hanover area by offering housing and empowering living supports to more than 2,400 people served annually through their programs.
Proceeds from the LIVE and VIRTUAL events are a wonderful way to support our local non-profit organizations. Runners may donate when they register. Each year, 2019 and 2020, runners directly donated almost $2,000 and the York Road Runners Club board voted to add all of the income minus race expenses to our charity for a total donation of $5,000. Please consider making an additional contribution to aid in Bell Socialization’s mission – to provide an environment of support and empowerment where people can improve their quality of living.
